Who we are

The Micro-Energy day is promoted since 2010 by the Noise in Physical System (NiPS) Laboratory at the Physics Department of the University of Perugia in Italy, as one of the Energy Days during the EU Sustainable Energy Week (www.eusew.eu) After being part of  the outreach activities of the Coordination Action ZEROPOWER (www.zero-power.eu), it is now organized in the framework of the coordination activities of the research consortia involved in the ICT-ENERGY project (www.ict-energy.eu/) funded by EU.
NiPS Laboratory has a long-standing tradition in studying energy related issues in micro physical systems. Scientific interests range from mechanical and thermal noise effects in physical systems to stochastic nonlinear dynamics modeling and noise measurements. NiPS Laboratory is the coordinator of  the EC funded research projects LANDAUER (Operating the ICT basic switch below the Landauer limit, www.landauer-project.eu/) and ICT-ENERGY(www.ict-energy.eu/). NiPS is also a partner in PROTEUS (www.proteus-sensor.eu/).
Previous EC funded projects in related field include NANOPOWER (Nanoscale energy management for powering ICT devices, GA no: 256959) and the Coordination Action ZEROPOWER (Co-ordinating Research Efforts Towards Zero-Power ICT) under the FET proactive initiative "Toward Zero-Power ICT" (GA no: 270005).
